Inside VPS episode 1 (2015-2016) featured FVHS CIS and the exciting changes at our school. We are proud of our diverse Fort community and we believe it’s important for all Fort Vancouver High School students to be fully prepared to compete, connect, and cooperate with others locally and globally. Becoming an international studies school will help us accomplish that goal. There is no application process to join the Center for International Studies, which will be a school-wide program open to all Fort students. Students can still participate in our popular Culinary Arts, Medical Arts, and Welding/Machine Technology programs while attending the FVHS Center for International Studies.
An international studies school is an environment where all students are becoming globally competent. Globally competent students are:
Investigating the world by asking important questions and conducting research about locally and globally significant issues.
Recognizing perspectives, both of others and themselves, to better understand interactions, situations, and events in our world.
Communicating ideas in an appropriate manner to diverse audiences to positively impact understanding and collaborate in an interdependent world.
Taking action, both personally and collaboratively, to positively contribute to local, regional, and global issues.
We have developed an International Studies diploma pathway for interested students within our school. To earn an International Studies diploma, students will complete specific course requirements, written and experiential projects, as well as school and community service along with their regular coursework. Students can earn a quarter credit each year. Students will complete the tasks on their own time.
